Here, sun-drenched fields of lavender lie among the forests of <strong>the Guadalajara region of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hispanorama-tours.com\/en\/dmc-for-spain-blog\/castilla-la-mancha\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">La Mancha<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Lavender Festival<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The area is known as the <strong>Jard\u00edn de la Alcarria<\/strong>, and every year in July, the fields come alive not just with the beauty of lavender, but also with <strong>open air concerts<\/strong> and <strong>dining under the stars<\/strong>. <strong>The Lavender Festival just outside the village of Brihuega in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hispanorama-tours.com\/en\/dmc-for-spain-blog\/castilla-leon\/castles-of-castile-a-journey-to-the-middle-ages\/\">Guadalajara<\/a><\/strong> is a spectacle unlike any other that awakens all of the senses.<\/p>\n<p>If <strong>your group wants to enjoy this special event<\/strong>, they can come dressed in white and take a seat among the rows of fragrant blooms to hear some of Spain\u2019s finest musicians perform at sunset. In the past, performances have been given by such epic artists as Luz Casal and flamenco singer Diego el Cigala. <strong>After the concert, attendees can enjoy fine local gastronomy, set out under the stars<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>For those who can\u2019t make the concerts, the festival includes a program of other activities, like <strong>guided tours of the fields in bloom<\/strong> and <strong>visits to the lavender distillery where the oil is pressed<\/strong>. It also has a wealth of culture, history, and nature. Brihuega itself is a picturesque <strong>medieval village<\/strong>, with remains from its 12<sup>th<\/sup> century walled castle. The most emblematic monument is a 16<sup>th<\/sup> century granite watchtower, but there is much more to discover: the 13<sup>th<\/sup> century church of Santa Mar\u00eda de la Pe\u00f1a, the ruins of an old Franciscan convent, the 17<sup>th<\/sup> century Royal Cloth Factory, and beautiful plazas and fountains hidden among the winding streets.<\/p>\n<p>Outside of town, there are plenty of villages with great historic and artistic offerings, like <strong>Atienza<\/strong>, <strong>Molina de Arag\u00f3n<\/strong>, <strong>Pastrana<\/strong> and <strong>Sig\u00fcenza<\/strong>. Nature lovers will also enjoy several protected spaces in the region, like <strong>the Tejeda Negra Nature Reserve<\/strong> with its enchanting beech forests.
