Diese hoch entflammbaren Papiermach\u00e9- Skulpturen welche Prominente, Politiker und historische Pers\u00f6nlichkeiten darstellen, k\u00f6nnen eine H\u00f6he von 20 Metern erreichen und verk\u00f6rpern das Wesen der Gemeinde Valencias. Sie k\u00f6nnen sich vorstellen, wieviele Stunden an Arbeit in jede Skulptur investiert werden, wenn Sie diese in Flammen aufgehen sehen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Raus mit dem Alten<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Es mag sinnlos, sogar tragisch erscheinen, aber das Verbrennen der <em>Fallas<\/em> symbolisiert ein bisschen den Fr\u00fchjahrsputz: heraus mit dem Alten damit Platz geschaffen wird f\u00fcr etwas Neues. Damals wurden die <em>Fallas<\/em> aus alten Holzteilen gebaut und dann mit alten Lumpen angezogen um ihnen ein menschliches Aussehen zu verleihen. Diese Tradition hatte mit dem heidnischen Fest der Tagundnachtgleiche zu tun und wurde sp\u00e4ter zu Ehren des Heiligen Josefs weitergef\u00fchrt.<\/p>\n<p>So entwickelte sich das heutige Festival der <em>Fallas<\/em>, welches um 1700 unter der Schirmherrschaft von mehreren Stadtlegenden begann und jetzt eine internationale Attraktion ist, die man nicht verpassen sollte, wenn man um diese Zeit des Jahres an die spanische Mittelmeerk\u00fcste reist. Die <em>Fallas<\/em>, welche \u00fcberall auf den Strassen w\u00e4hrend der 5 Tage der Festlichkeiten ausgestellt werden, sind satirische Darstellungen von allem und jedem. Theater, Musik, Feuerwerke, der Fallas-Wettbewerb, ein Sch\u00f6nheitswettbewerb um die Festival-K\u00f6nigin zu kr\u00f6nen sowie traditionelle Speisen und Getr\u00e4nke tragen allesamt zum Vergn\u00fcgen bei.<\/p>\n<p>Wenn Sie an einen gem\u00fctlichen Aufenthalt in Valencia denken, mag dies nicht der beste Zeitpunkt daf\u00fcr sein. M\u00e4rz statt und die Besucher werden sehen, dass es wahrlich der H\u00f6hepunkt nach einenm Jahr Arbeit und Anstrengung ist. Die gesamte Stadt wird in dieser Zeit mobilisiert und es ist keine \u00dcbertreibung wenn behauptet wird, dass fast jede Strassenecke seine eigene <em>Falla<\/em> hat.<\/p>\n<p>Fast 100.000 Valencianer nehmen an den Prozessionen und Festlichkeiten teil und viele mehr kommen aus der ganzen Welt. Die Hauptattraktion findet um Mitternacht des 19. M\u00e4rz statt und ist unter dem <em>Namen La Crema<\/em> (das Verbrennen) bekannt, wenn die <em>Fallas<\/em> mit Fackeln angez\u00fcndet werden und die lokale Feuerwehr das Flammenmeer nach einiger Zeit l\u00f6scht.<\/p>\n<p>Am Tag nach diesem spektakul\u00e4ren Anblick, ist alles was von den Fallas \u00fcbrig bleibt, ein paar verkohlte Stellen auf dem Asfalt. Nur einige der <em>Fallas<\/em> haben \u00fcberlebt, diejenigen die im Rahmen des Wettbewerbs als glorreich genug f\u00fcr die Unsterblichkeit erachtet wurden. Diese werden liebevoll im Museo Fallero ausgestellt.
